Children acquire language quickly, easily, and without any effort. I have always wondered why. I can relate to this topic. Since I was born, I have been in a bilingual environment. My other only spoke Spanish to me and my dad spoke French.
My kindergarten teacher thought that was going to be confusing for me, because, according to her, I would mix the two. I started learning English in middle school. I was surprised how complex languages were and how many rules we had to follow when we talked. How come kids can learn a foreign language just by hearing sounds and repeating them?
I have been reading a few articles about this topic and all say that, to learn a new language, the younger the better. In my opinion, learning a foreign language is very beneficial, not only for social interaction, but also for cultural enlightenment.
I can speak three languages fluently. Studies have shown that the more languages you know, the easier it is to learn a new one. This topic intrigues me, therefore I want to know more about it.
